Commonwealth Champions for US invitational Wrestling event

The 2018 Commonwealth champions Odunayo Adekuoroye (57kg), Aminat Adeniyi (62kg) and Blessing Oborududu (68kg) will partake at the Beat The Streets Invitational wrestling event in the United States of America.

The one-day event which is scheduled to hold on May 17th, 2018 at the famous Times Square in New York City.

Adekuoroye, Adeniyi and Oborududu are currently training in Akure and Yenagoa with their sparring partners.

The head coach Nigeria Wrestling female team, Purity Akuh said it is an opportunity for the athletes to be at one of the premier wrestling events in the world, and to have the added experience and exposure at this tournament.

“We are concentrating now on getting clips on some of these American as well as European wrestlers for the girls, see what they are against”.

“No doubt, the Nigerian wrestling has potential, and based on the technical qualities I have seen amongst these wrestlers, and the willingness to work hard they will accomplish great things”.

“However, I have the confidence that this group of wrestlers will make Nigeria proud again”, Akuh told aclsports.com.

The team will be accompanied by a coach and a team leader, with their flight tickets, accommodation and other logistics, to be catered for by the organisers of the event.
