Day three action at the ongoing Nigeria Volleyball League (NVL) saw two South West teams; hosts, Team Lagos and Ondo progress to the next round of the league.

With three wins in three, team Ondo became the first team in the South West zone to qualify for the next round, while team Lagos (Legacy) overcame a shocking opening day loss to Ondo to progress into the round of 16.

“It really felt great to bounce back and win our remaining matches considering the shaky start,” Vice-Captain of the host team (Lagos), Adegbite Seun said to ACLSports about team Lagos’ qualification.

Talking about the loss to Ondo and how the team bounced back immediately to secure qualification he said: “The loss to Ondo was a close one.

“They had more experienced players than us but with our togetherness and determination we were able to give them a good fight and it ended 3-2 in Ondo’s favour.

“After that match, we took that same spirit of never giving up to play other matches which made our other matches against Elite Spikers and Ogun easy.”

With the team now in the round of 16 and a fighting chance to go further in the maiden edition of the league, the influential spiker said “one thing about team Lagos now is that we are young, energetic and experienced with mixed talent.”

Adding that “the only threat I’m seeing now is TEAM LAGOS and I can see us getting to the final rounds of the league.”
