Para Taekwondo: Ukpera wins silver for Nigeria in Morocco

Nigeria’s Samson Ukpera on Wednesday night settled for a silver medal at the ongoing Africa Para Taekwondo Open Championships in Agadir, Morocco.

Ukpera lost to World number one, Iran’s Saeid Sadeghianpour in the male -61kg K-42 category.

Ukpera won the Championships last year while Sadeghianpour also won his second Asian Open gold in Chuncheon, South Korea.

The World number 7 on his way to the final, won his first fight against Cameroon 12 to 0 points and gave his  Tunisian opponent a knock out in the second fight.

Kaduna based Samson Ukpera won a Bronze medal for Nigeria three years ago at the Africa Para Taekwondo Championships.

The African Para-Taekwondo Championships is organised by the African Taekwondo Union in partnership with World Taekwondo and has a high G-4 ranking.
