Super Falcons forward Joy Omewa scored on her Women’s Super League 2 debut in Nottingham Forest Women’s 5–1 defeat to Birmingham City Women, www.aclsports.com reports.

Omewa, who joined Nottingham Forest earlier this week from Danish side Fortuna Hjørring, marked her first appearance in style. In the 45th minute, she latched onto Chloe Mustaki’s long ball, which was deflected into her path, got past her marker, and calmly fired home to restore parity just before half-time.

The hosts had taken the lead in the 22nd minute through an unfortunate own goal by Georgia Brougham, but Omewa’s composed finish ensured Forest went into the break level at 1–1.

The hosts quickly regained control after the restart, with Wilma Leidhammar scoring in the 47th minute. Forest struggled to contain the pressure, and Omewa came close again in the 54th minute when her left-footed effort was blocked. She was later substituted in the 63rd minute for Charlie Wellings.

Birmingham City then pulled further ahead as Lisa Lindström completed a quick-fire hat-trick in the 72nd, 75th, and 78th minutes, sealing a 5–1 victory.

Even in defeat, Omewa made an impact on her debut. She has scored in 15 of her last 16 league matches, and her movement, composure, and attacking instinct showed the quality she brings to Nottingham Forest, giving fans a glimpse of what to expect this season.

Forest will look to regroup in their next match against Charlton on 8 February, while Omewa will hope to continue making her mark in WSL 2 after an encouraging first outing.
