The Nigeria U20 women’s national team, the Falconets, maintained a perfect start at the 2025 WAFU Zone B U20 Girls’ Cup with a 3–0 win over hosts Benin Republic at the Adjohoun Stadium on Sunday, www.aclsports.com reports.
Coach Moses Aduku’s side, who began their campaign with a 3–1 win over Ghana, were in total control from the outset, creating several early chances and showcasing both attacking flair and defensive discipline.
In the 8th minute, Janet Akekoromowei’s fierce strike was blocked, with the resulting corner cleared by the Benin defence. The breakthrough came in the 15th minute when the lively Ramotalahi Kareem expertly controlled a lofted pass from Kesseina Oyijovwi, danced past her markers, and chipped the ball over the goalkeeper to give the Falconets a deserved lead, sending them into the break with a 1–0 advantage.
In the second half, the Falconets remained on the front foot and doubled their advantage in the 59th minute when Kareem finished a well-worked move from the right flank with a low, powerful strike that left the Benin goalkeeper with no chance.
The victory was sealed deep into stoppage time when a poorly cleared corner fell to Precious Oscar, who calmly slotted the ball home to make it 3–0, capping a polished and dominant team performance.
For her energetic and clinical display, Kareem Ramotalahi was named Woman of the Match, having scored two brilliant goals and orchestrated Nigeria’s attacking play.
The win keeps Nigeria top of the group with six points and a +5 goal difference, while hosts Benin remain without a point after two consecutive defeats. The Falconets will next face Ghana on 11 November before concluding their campaign with a second encounter against Benin on 12 November.
