African champions Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been drawn in Group C of the 2026 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), alongside Zambia, Egypt and Malawi, www.aclsports.com reports.

The draw was conducted in Rabat, Morocco, ahead of the tournament scheduled to run from Tuesday, 17 March to Friday, 3 April 2026. The 2026 edition will mark the first WAFCON to feature an expanded 16-team format, up from 12.

Hosts Morocco headline Group A, where they will face fellow North African side Algeria, Senegal and Kenya, while Group B consists of 2022 champions South Africa, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Tanzania.

Group D is made up of 2024 bronze medallist Ghana, Cameroon, Mali and Cape Verde.

Malawi will be participating at the WAFCON for the first time in their history, while Cape Verde, who played their first-ever women’s international match in 2018, are also making their tournament debut. Kenya return to the competition for the first time since 2016, following their only previous appearance, while Burkina Faso will be making their second appearance, having last featured in 2022.

Matches will be hosted across Rabat (two venues), Casablanca and Fès, with Group C fixtures, headed by Nigeria, set to take place in Casablanca.

The tournament will determine Africa’s four representatives at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
