Former Nigeria U19 volleyball player, Arinze Nwachukwu won his first professional trophy with Fenerbahçe Volleyball Club on Wednesday.

Fenerbahçe VC defeated Arkas Spor Izmir 3-1 (25-15, 20-25, 25-20, 25-20) in the final of the 2020 Turkish Men’s Volleyball Super Cup.

Arinze Nwachukwu expressed delight winning his first major trophy in his first season with the Turkish volleyball giants.

The opposite player said, “I feel so excited winning the Turkish Men’s Volleyball Super Cup because this is my first international cup I will be lifting as a player. Last year, I featured for Nigeria at the African Games in Morocco but we could not reach the semi final and the next assignment was to put in more effort at my club side. I am happy it later paid off this year.

“I feel so happy because I know deep down in me that I am going to make Nigeria proud in Turkey. The expectations are every high but I know I can do it.

The 2.15 meters player revealed to www.aclsports.com that his inspiration on the court comes from when he plays with the experienced players especially the team captain, Ulaş Kıyak (Former Captain of Turkey Volleyball National Team).

He said, “My inspiration comes from been around experienced and well traveled players especially my captain, Ulaş Kıyak. Whenever I enter into the volleyball court and surrounded by my team mates, I begin to do things I practice during training and many more.

Describing the impact of the Turkish league in his career, Nwachukwu said, “The league is highly competitive and it brought out the best in me. I am improving after each game as my coach and the technical team points out our errors.

Nwanchukwu hailed the head coach, Erkan Toğan for believing in his abilities and drafting him into the senior team despite been signed to play for the junior team of the club.
