Captain of Nigeria Senior Women’s Volleyball Team, Ijeoma Ukpabi told www.aclsports.com that Nigeria will qualify for the 2024 African Games in Ghana.

The 2024 African Games Qualifier is scheduled to take place between 4th to 8th January at the indoor sports hall of the National Stadium in Lagos.

Ukpabi revealed that the senior national team players are battle ready to secure a spot and make a huge statement at the African Games in March.

“I have a strong conviction that Nigeria will qualify for the African Games,” declared the COAS Spikers player.

“Everything is possible with God, including this very trip to the Games. Four years ago in Morocco, we came very close to finishing in third place; things will be different this time.

“Being chosen to lead the team is a wonderful honour and opportunity. Since I can’t do it alone, I pray to God for wisdom. A leader can only be effective when they get along well with other team members, and I have no doubt that together, we will establish a strong team”.

As the team’s captain, Ukpabi told www.aclsports.com that one of her greatest accomplishments as a captain was helping Nigeria win the 2023 ANOCA Games (Zone 3) in Lome, Togo.

“It felt like something little, but winning a gold medal for Nigeria at the 2023 ANOCA Games as the team’s captain is an amazing accomplishment for me,” the Ukpabi noted.

“I want to establish a reputation for myself in Nigeria volleyball in 2024 and make a lasting memory.”
