Gernot Rohr’s Super Eagles couldn’t beat the Sharks of Cape Verde but they managed to get the needed draw to book their place in the playoffs of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

The football fans, who have been reacting right from the blast of the whistle via social media, have much to say concerning the draw at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Tuesday evening.

After the 2-0 win over Liberia last Saturday, the Super Eagles headed into the encounter needing just a point against their visitors to finish top of Group C.

The Super Eagles got off to a flying start when Napoli man Victor Osimhen cooly slotted past Josimar Dias for the game’s opening goal in the first minute.

But that lead didn’t last long as they were pegged back four minutes later when a corner kick was missed by the team’s defence, which allowed Lanique ‘Stopira’ Tavares to stab home.

Goalkeeper Josimar was in fine form as he denied the likes of  Joel Aribo and Victor Osimhen on multiple occasions to keep his side in the game.

However, nothing much happened in the second half as Rohr’s men finished top of Group C after garnering 13 points from six games.

The Super Eagles supporters have shared their feelings concerning the result, with many praising goalscorer Osimhen and many criticised the gaffer for the three-time African champions’ poor showing.

Victor Osimhen is the biggest talent out of Africa right now

Victor Osimhen has now reached double figures in goals for the Super Eagles.

If Nigeria ever had to play without Victor Osimhen upfront, it would be even clearer just how rudderless they are in attack. The work he does turning shit to sugar is something remarkable.

Nigerians love Victor Osimhen and guy he deserves the love 😍😍😍😍#NGACPV #FIFAWCQ2022

Good that we weren't bitten by the Sharks of Cape Verde.

The most important thing is that the Super Eagles qualified for the final round.

The team may not have played well, or won, but at least, they got the needed result. People can complain. If they had lost, wahala niyen o

Omo if we get Egypt... Just kiss Qatar goodbye

— Duns. (@LifeOfAdunni) November 16, 2021

Rohr has tried. But he has plateaued with the Super Eagles.

— JJ. Omojuwa (@Omojuwa) November 16, 2021

I believe Gernot Rohr’s time with the eagles is over, be like Ole. No game plan, just individual brilliance

— Bobby💰👑 (@Folagbade20) November 16, 2021

Why did he call Ighalo back from retirement, when Onoachu doesn't have playing time. When Taiwo Awoniyi is in good form

— MIDE (@_Olumyde) November 16, 2021

Ighalo, honestly no business in that team.
Collins & Simon have got to work on their delivery abilities, so many poorly executed set pieces.
The oyibo flyover, no pace, error prone, don't know if it's an ageing flyover or just outlived its value.
Rohr? Disappointed! 😲 https://t.co/9sJeE7JCbD
