Tunisia volleyball team win African U21 championships in Abuja

Tunisia volleyball team won the U21 men’s African Nations Volleyball Championship 2018, after beating title holder Egypt 3-1 (16 – 25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-21), at the final played Wednesday evening in Abuja.

It is the 10th continental crown for the Eagles of Carthage, beating the record of the Pharaohs counting 4th.

Both teams have booked their slot for the World Championships next year.

Morocco defeated Rwanda 3-1 (25-14, 27-29, 25-16m 31-29) to finish 3rd at the 10 day event.

Egypt started the match with their best line up as they succeeded to overwhelm the Tunisia at the net through Abdelrahman Elhossiny who was voted best attacker to win the first set 16-25.

Tunisia recovered in the second set despite the continue disturbance in the stands winning Egypt 25-20.

The most valuable player, Hamdi Ben Taleb was instrumental in Tunisia beating Egypt in the 3rd set, 25-22.

Tunisia compounded the woes of Egypt by confirming their victory in the 4th set; 25-21 and the match in straight sets.

Meanwhile, Hosts Nigeria ended their campaign in the fifth place following their victory over RD Congo 3-0 (32-30, 25-18, 25-20) in the ranking matches held in Abuja, Nigeria on Tuesday.

In the other ranking match, Cameroon beat Chad 3-1 (18-25, 25-21, 25-13, 25-16) to clinch the 7th place
