Turkish champions Fenerbahçe Women have announced the signing of Nigerian midfielder Suliat Abideen, www.aclsports.com reports.
The 24-year-old has signed a contract that will keep her at Fenerbahçe until the end of the season after joining from ABB Fomget, where she spent the past two seasons in the Turkcell Women’s Football Super League.
A significant step in the career of the former Edo Queens player, the move comes after Abideen was named the NWFL Premiership Most Valuable Player in 2024 and helped the club win the league title.
She also earned individual recognition on the international stage after being named the Most Valuable Player at the 2024 WAFU-B Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
Abideen went on to represent Edo Queens in the CAF Women’s Champions League before joining ABB Fomget.
“Welcome to our club. We wish you many successes in our Çubuklu jersey,” Fenerbahçe said in a statement.
Abideen now joins a Fenerbahçe side that were crowned champions of the Turkcell Women’s Football Super League last season and will represent the club in next season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League second qualifying round.
The Nigerian midfielder will also link up with compatriots Flourish Sebastine and Regina Otu, who are already part of the Fenerbahçe squad.
Her arrival adds further Nigerian presence to the Turkish champions as the club prepares for another campaign at domestic and European level.
