Africa champions the Super Falcons will face the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in a two-match friendly series ahead of the 2026 WAFCON, www.aclsports.com reports.

The matches are scheduled for 28 February and 3 March 2026 in Yaoundé, Cameroon, providing the Falcons with an opportunity to fine-tune their preparations ahead of the continent’s showpiece.

This development follows the cancellation of the West African Football Union (WAFU B) Four-Nation Tournament in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, originally slated for 27 February to 7 March 2026.

Operational challenges and planning issues forced the tournament’s cancellation, leaving the Falcons seeking alternative competitive fixtures.

Earlier, in June 2025, Nigeria defeated Cameroon 2–0 in Abeokuta courtesy of two goals from captain Rasheedat Ajibade. That encounter, initially planned as a double-header, was reduced to a single match due to logistical difficulties.

Since their WAFCON 2026 qualifying matches against Benin in October 2025, the Super Falcons have not regrouped for competitive action, leaving several players without match practice for months. These upcoming friendlies against Cameroon are therefore crucial for assessing squad depth, testing tactical options and building momentum ahead of defending their title in Morocco, as well as pursuing qualification for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 in Brazil.

Nigeria have been drawn in Group C of the 2026 WAFCON alongside Zambia, Egypt and Malawi.
