It was a weekend of goals as Super Falcons trio of Asisat Oshoala, Rita Chikwelu and Osinachi Ohale were all on target for their respective clubs in the Spanish Primera Iberdrola.

Oshoala scored her 15th league goal of the season as Barcelona Femeni defeated Uchenna Kanu’s Sevilla 3-0 to stay top of the league.

It was a tough encounter but the Super Falcons striker eventually found the back of the net in the second period as her goal which was the second of the game sealed all three points for Barcelona Femeni.

Oshoala struck in the 55th minute with a timely header from a perfectly weighted cross; and could have doubled her tally on the day in the 72nd minute but her effort just went wide of the post. She was eventually replaced two minutes later with the game well won.

On the other side of the divide was another Super Falcons forward Uchenna Kanu who joined Sevilla during the week and was introduced during the course of the game for her debut.

Although it wasn’t the result we wanted but I’m still thankful for the debut!

Despite being on the pitch for only 30 minutes, Kanu made a lot of difference for the Sevilla side giving them more bite upfront, unsettling the Barcelona defense and almost getting on the score sheet but for the crossbar which prevented her strike from going in.

Another meeting of Super Falcons players took place in the Madrid Derby between Chikwelu of Madrid CFF and Ohale of CD Tacon.

It was indeed a hard fought derby as both relegation battlers kept going for the game which ended in a seven goal thriller with Tacon taking all three points away from home.

Madrid went 3-2 up following Chikwelu’s 65th minute strike but with 15 minutes left on the clock, Tacon rallied back as Ohale levelled the score before her team mate conjured a winner in the final five minutes to make 3-4 in CD Tacon’s favour.

Following the weekend’s game, Chikwelu has now scored four goals in three games since joining Madrid while for Ohale, it was her second goal in 13 appearances this season.
