Fresh from clinching their record-extending 10th WAFCON title in Morocco, the Super Falcons of Nigeria have wasted no time shining on the club stage, www.aclsports.com reports.
Their thrilling 3-2 comeback win over the hosts in Rabat was the stuff of legend — and now, across leagues from the United States to Europe and Mexico, the champions are carrying that same energy, skill, and confidence back to their teams.
Michelle Alozie – From Rabat glory to Houston’s roar
For Houston Dash full-back Michelle Alozie, WAFCON 2024 was a career-defining tournament. Her solid defending and surging runs on the right wing earned her a place in the CAF Team of the Tournament. In the tense semifinal against South Africa, she scored a crucial goal that sent Nigeria into the final.
Back in Texas, Alozie received a rousing stadium welcome before the Dash’s 2-1 win over North Carolina Courage on Saturday. Her return has injected fresh energy into the club’s playoff push in the NWSL.
Esther Okoronkwo – The MVP keeps delivering
If the WAFCON final had a heartbeat, it was Esther Okoronkwo. The forward converted a penalty and supplied two assists, directly shaping all three of Nigeria’s goals against Morocco. Her brilliance earned her the Final MVP award and a place in the CAF Best XI.

Back with her club side in Canada, Okoronkwo wasted no time making an impact, producing a slick shoulder assist in a 2-1 win over Montreal Roses on Saturday. Her WAFCON magic clearly travelled with her.
Rinsola Babajide – A new Roman chapter
Dynamic winger Rinsola Babajide’s move to AS Roma Women was announced during WAFCON 2024, and she has now linked up with her new teammates in Italy. The pacey forward has begun training in Serie A Femminile, eager to make her mark on the European stage.
Halimatu Ayinde – Rosengård’s midfield rock
Midfield enforcer Halimatu Ayinde returned to Swedish champions FC Rosengård to a warm welcome. Her defensive discipline and tireless work rate were vital to Nigeria’s WAFCON triumph, and her experience will be crucial as Rosengård target glory in both the Damallsvenskan and Champions League this season.
Chiamaka Nnadozie – Nigeria’s impenetrable wall
Between the posts, Chiamaka Nnadozie stood tall for Nigeria. Conceding only two goals from open play, she earned the Best Goalkeeper award and a spot in CAF’s Best XI.
Having recently completed a move to Brighton & Hove Albion in England, Nnadozie is preparing for her debut season in the WSL. Her rise continues to make history, highlighted by her nomination as the first Nigerian goalkeeper among the top five finalists for the 2025 Women’s Yachine Trophy.
Osinachi Ohale & Chinwendu Ihezuo – Pachuca’s impact players
Defender Osinachi Ohale and striker Chinwendu Ihezuo returned to Club Pachuca Femenil in Mexico’s Liga MX Femenil, both coming off the bench in a 3-1 win over Santos Laguna on Sunday. Ohale made her presence felt immediately, scoring her side’s third goal just 10 minutes after stepping onto the pitch.
At WAFCON 2024, Ihezuo was one of Nigeria’s most reliable finishers, netting three goals during the tournament, while Ohale also found the target, scoring against Zambia for her second-ever WAFCON goal, both of which have fittingly come against the same opponents.
The Super Falcons’ WAFCON triumph in Morocco has fueled strong starts and triumphant returns for their players at clubs worldwide, from Alozie’s return in Houston to Okoronkwo in Canada, Babajide’s new start in Rome, Ayinde back with Rosengård, and Ohale in Mexico. WAFCON glory may be behind them, but their form and confidence are now driving new chapters across leagues around the globe.
