Busayo Olatunji of Lagos has beaten Kwara’s Faidat Soliu with a straight-set win in the female final of the 13th Annual Cargolux Merchant Express tournament to maintain her superb run of form. Busayo won 11-7,11-9 and 11-6 in Lagos to end her under 19 career in style.

The champion was up against highly rated Rofiat Abdulazeez in the Semifinals of the event. “I’m happy, really happy because this is my last under 19 tournament”, says Busayo who won a silver plate at the Zimbabwe Squash Open Championships in Bulawayo.

“What happened is that, I feel it would be disastrous if I don’t win this last game. It means a lot to my career. My toughest match was in the Semifinals against Rofiat but I was able to win by 3-1 major set,” Busayo adds.

In the male under 19 category final, lanky Adegoke Onaopemipo of Lagos, overpowered Oladipupo Ayomide of Lagos by 11-4, 7-11, 4-11, 11-9 and 11-7 in the game of five major set.

The spectators were thrilled when number two player, Oladipupo Ayomide stunned Adegoke Onaopemipo in the second and third set but the 6ft plus player also called Onos turned the table around narrowly winning the fourth set and won the final set in style.

Mike Nwabuzor (Ikoyi club) defeated Layo Olupitan of Ibadan in the final of Squash veteran by 11-7, 7-11, 14-16, 11-5 and 11-8.
