The season-ending event of the second division kicked off at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba with games in the Northern and Southern Conferences producing just two goals.

In the Northern Conference, it ended goalless between Barau FC and Yobe Desert Stars. Similarly, the second game of the day between promotion favourites Wikki Tourists and Doma United also ended without goals.

Meanwhile, goals came in the Southern Conference as Kun Khalifat defeated Crown FC 1-0 in a keenly contested affair. The only goal of the game came in the seventh minute through Chijioke Ahiaeke who scored from the penalty spot. The pride of Imo have now put themselves in a good position to seal one of the promotion tickets.

In the final game of the day between Osun United and Warri Wolves, former MFM striker Ebenezer Odeyemi scored the game’s only goal in the first half to hand the Omoluabi giants their first three points of the tournament. On the other hand, it’s the first defeat of the season for the Seasiders who finished the regular campaign unbeaten.

The competition will continue on Monday as teams play their second group games at the same venue.
