FIFA has unveiled a record-breaking prize money for the inaugural Women’s Champions Cup 2026, with the winners set to receive USD 2.3 million – the highest single payout in the history of women’s club football, www.aclsports.com reports.
The prize structure was announced on Friday by FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström, who described it as “a clear statement of belief in women’s club football and in the players, teams and competitions driving its continued rise.”
The runners-up will take home USD 1 million after reaching the final, which is scheduled to be staged at Arsenal Stadium on Sunday, 1 February 2026. The two semi-finalists will each receive USD 200,000, while the clubs eliminated in Round 1 and Round 2, Auckland United FC of New Zealand and Wuhan Chegu Jiangda WFC of China PR, will earn USD 100,000 apiece.
In total, close to USD 4 million will be distributed among the six participating clubs, reflecting FIFA’s growing investment in women’s club football.
Grafström emphasised that the prize structure underlines FIFA’s commitment to accelerating investment in the women’s game worldwide. The Women’s Champions Cup forms part of a broader strategy to develop women’s club football globally. Following the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, FIFA distributed USD 11.3 million to 1,041 clubs through its Club Benefits Programme, further supporting grassroots and professional structures.
These efforts are supported by changes to the Women’s International Match Calendar and the launch of top-level competitions, including the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup and the FIFA Women’s Club World Cup, which will begin in 2028. The Club World Cup will introduce measures such as training compensation, support for clubs, and minimum standards programmes, all aimed at improving performance and making women’s club football more sustainable in the long term.
Top women’s clubs from each confederation will compete in the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup to determine the world’s intercontinental champions.
The final phase takes place in London from 28 January to 1 February 2026, with the semi-finals at Brentford Stadium. Concacaf champions Gotham FC of the United States will face CONMEBOL winners SC Corinthians of Brazil, followed by UEFA holders Arsenal Women FC against CAF champions ASFAR of Morocco.
Emirates Stadium will host the tournament’s conclusion, featuring the third-place play-off and the historic final, where the first-ever FIFA Women’s intercontinental club champions will be crowned.
