Six-time African Women’s Player of the Year, Asisat Oshoala, scored on her Saudi Women’s Premier League debut as Al Hilal edged Al Qadsiah 4–3 in a thrilling encounter, www.aclsports.com reports.
Oshoala, who joined Al Hilal late this summer from Bay FC, converted a 62nd-minute penalty to restore the lead after Al Qadsiah had equalised.
Al Hilal had raced into a two-goal advantage through Al Bandari Mobarak, who struck twice in quick succession in the 30th and 36th minutes, the latter set up by 2024 WAFCON top scorer and Moroccan captain Ghizlane Chebbak. French midfielder Léa Le Garrec pulled one back for Al Qadsiah just before halftime.
The visitors drew level early in the second half when Adriana scored in the 58th minute, but Oshoala responded almost immediately to put Al Hilal back in front. Portuguese forward Jéssica Silva extended the lead in the 74th minute to make it 4–2.
German international Dzsenifer Marozsán struck deep into stoppage time to set up a nervy finish, but Al Hilal held on for all three points.
Oshoala’s debut strike underlines the excitement around her move to Saudi Arabia and her intent to be a key figure for Al Hilal this season.
Al Hilal will next face Eastern Flames, with Oshoala hoping to continue leading the line as they push for early momentum in the league.
