Super Eagles defender Ola Aina is off the mark for the season after his wonder goal for Fulham during their Premier League match against West Bromwich Albion late Monday night.

Fulham went into the game in search of their first win of the season after six matches and found themselves 1-0 up courtesy of a 26th minute Bobby De Cordova-Ried header following a loose ball.

Four minutes later, on the half hour mark, Super Eagles versatile player, Aina doubled their advantage with a stunning left-footed effort from outside the box that found its way into the top corner.

The goal proved to be the winner for the Cottagers as they secured a 2-0 win over WBA, who had another Nigerian, Semi Ajayi, on the pitch.

It was a worthy winner and would be memorable for Aina as it secured Fulham their first win since they won promotion back to the Premier League.

The night of firsts for the club, first win, first clean sheet, and first Aina goal, also means Fulham are out of the relegation zone for the first time this season with Ajayi’s WBA replacing them.

Speaking after the game, a happy Scott Parker had this to say about Aina’s wonder goal:

“It was a great strike. We might have to take risks. We’re going to have to take risks in or around the box and Ola did that and it’s flown into the top corner. Anyone watching us with an open mind will see we have a bit of quality. We had some lovely bits in both halves.”

Up next for Aina and Fulham is a trip neighbors, West Ham in what is a London derby before he joins his Super Eagles teammates as Nigeria restart their AFCON2022Q with a double header against Sierra Leone.
