Nigerian track queen, Blessing Okagbare-Ighotegunor secured her maiden win at the IAAF Diamond League in Stanford, USA on Sunday.

Running from lane 8, Okagbare-Ighotegunor picked up from the bend quickly to lead the race and eventually finished with a season’s best of 22.05 seconds in the 200m at the Cobb Track and Angell Field, Stanford.

It marked a successive win for Okagbare who recorded her first victory at the IAAF Diamond League in Rabat two weeks ago.

Double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson raced to second in 22.21 seconds while British Sprinter and double European Champion, Dina Asher Smith finished third in 22.42 seconds.

Only Elaine Thompson with a time of 22.00 seconds has run faster than Okagbare in the 200m this season. Her time of 22.05 seconds is the second fastest time in the world in 2019.

Okagbare made her debut at the IAAF Diamond League in Stanford, USA in 2010.
