Match day 14 of the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) saw Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens emerge Group A representatives for this season’s NWFL Super 4 tournament.

Reigning female AITEO Cup champions, Rivers Angels are well on course for a double this season thanks to Juliet Sunday’s early strike against Heartland Queens which confirmed their Super 4 slot.

Still in Group A, Bayelsa Queens and Delta Queens squared up in a tough encounter with both teams looking to secure a Super 4 slot; but it wasn’t to be for Delta Queens who needed a draw to qualify but eventually lost to an 86th minute strike from Anibaba Ayomide. This win sees Bayelsa Queens replace Delta Queens in second to clinch a Super 4 slot.

With Nazarawa Amazons’ slot already confirmed as group leaders in Group B, the defending champions ended Abia Angels hope of qualification after a 4-0 thrashing at the Lafia Township Stadium.

Sunshine Queens then grabbed the opportunity with both hands as Vincent Precious 74th minute strike was enough to send them through to the Super 4 alongside the defending champions.
