Ratels, who went into the final game of the season needing just a point to clinch the ticket at the expense of Robo Queens, did just enough in the end.

On the other hand, Robo Queens defeated Delta Queens 2-1 at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos. Mariam Yahaya scored a stoppage time winner after Priscilla Omeje had cancelled out the home side’s first-half lead via an own goal.

Former champions Rivers Angels also defeated Benue Queens 4-2 in Port Harcourt. Nana Yusuf, Aminat Folorunsho, and Chisom Nwachukwu (brace) scored for the hosts, while Hellen Alex and Ranti Joshua scored for the Queens.

Heartland Queens defeated playoffs- bound Nasarawa Amazons 2-1 in Owerri. Faith Samson grabbed a brace before Kesiena Ojiyovwi halved the deficit for the Amazons late on. Ekiti Queens also beat Abia Angels 1-0 courtesy of Rasheedat Salau’s goal to complete a day of dominance for the home teams on the final day.

Meanwhile, the NWFL board has officially announced Ikenne, Ogun State, as the host city for the 2024/2025 NWFL Premiership Super Six Tournament—marking a return of the six-team event to the South West region for the first time since the 2021 edition held in Ijebu Ode.

The season-defining title playoff is scheduled to take place from Thursday, May 8 to Sunday, May 17, 2025, at the Remo Stars Stadium, the home ground of Remo Stars Ladies.

Speaking on the host selection, NWFL Chairperson, Ms. Nkechi Obi, said: “On behalf of the board and management of the NWFL, I congratulate Ikenne and Ogun State on being selected to host this year’s NWFL Premiership Super Six.

“Last year, we hosted the competition in Yenagoa, South South, and now we’re excited to bring it to Ikenne in the South West, in line with our WomenFootballRising agenda to spread elite women’s football across every region of Nigeria.”

Rivers Angels, Nasarawa Amazons, Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens, Remo Stars Ladies and Naija Ratels – who booked the final slot on the final – will compete for the title in Ikenne.

The NWFL Premiership has produced different champions in the last four editions—Rivers Angels (2021), Bayelsa Queens (2022), Delta Queens (2023), and Edo Queens (2024)—setting the stage for another exciting battle for the title.
