Ahudiyannem Queens FC have confirmed the appointment of Adanna Nwaneri as the new head coach of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership side, www.aclsports.com reports.
The appointment comes after the resignation of coach Ann Chiejine, who stepped down following the team’s 5–2 defeat to Abia Angels FC on Matchday 9. The defeat came just after Ahudiyannem Queens secured their first top-flight win of the season, a 5–1 victory over Confluence Queens on Matchday 8.
Nwaneri arrives at Ahudiyannem Queens after her stint with Abia Angels FC, where she held the dual role of head coach and technical adviser. She also worked with Heartland Queens FC and Invincible Angels, further broadening her experience in the domestic women’s game.
Beyond club football, she has also been involved on the international scene, serving as an assistant coach with Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, where she played a part in shaping tactical approaches and developing emerging talent.
Ahudiyannem Queens currently occupy 10th position in Group B with five points from nine outings and face an uphill battle to avoid relegation. Nwaneri is expected to steady the side and spark a turnaround as the NWFL Premiership campaign progresses.
The club’s hierarchy, players and fans have welcomed her appointment, confident she will bring new energy and lift the team’s performances in the remaining fixtures.
