Team Ogun and Invited Junior Athletes (IJA) claimed bronze of the football event (female and male respectively) at the ongoing 2024 Ogun State National Sports Festival, www.aclsports.com reports.

Team Ogun defeated Team Osun 2-0 to secure bronze in the female category of  football event decided at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Tuesday morning. Damilola Adeyanju and Itunuoluwa Odeyiola scored in the first half to help the hosts finish third.

In the male category, Manu Garba’s U17 side – competing as IJA – defeated Team Kaduna 2-0 at the mainbowl of the Remo Stars Stadium. Abdulmuiz Adeleke, who has been a regular goalscorer for the Golden Eaglets in the tournament, opened the scoring after some fine build-up play. An own-goal from the Kaduna side then increased the tally for the junior athletes.

The Eaglets were dominant, and could have added more but were denied by the goalkeeper for Team Kaduna. In the end, they could not add more goals and it finished two nil in their favour as they walk away with bronze.
