The youth sides of Remo Stars and Plateau United have set up a meeting in the 2023 NPFLLaLigaU15Promises final after their semi-final wins on Tuesday, www.aclsports.com reports.

In the day’s first game, Plateau United, who have been one of the most impressive sides in the tourney, pipped Sunshine Stars 2-1 at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne to book a place in the final.

Umar Bala opened the scoring for United in the 11th minute with his fifth strike of the tournament before Sunshine Star restored parity through Olaniyo Precious just nine minutes later. With just five minutes before the end of the game, Sumfat Julius popped up with a wonderful goal to send the Jos Boys through.

In the other game, defending champions Remo Stars strolled past Elkanemi Warriors 4-2 to reach a second consecutive final.

Remo raced into a two-goal lead from Akanji Oluwaseun’s brace before the young warriors halved the deficit through Abdullahi Bello’s goal in first-half stoppage time. The game was cagey till the final ten minutes as the tournament’s top scorer Opeyemi Yusuf restored Remo’s two lead in the 50th minute, only for Safwan Bashir to score for Elkanemi just a minute later to set up a grandstand finish to the game.

Remo Stars would eventually see out the win as Opeyemi notched his ninth goal of the tourney to send his side into their second final on home soil. The final has been billed to hold on Friday at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

Friday’s final between the two teams will be a repeat of their clash earlier in the group stages, which Remo Stars won 3-1.
