Remo Stars forward, Samuel Anakwe could not hide his excitement after helping his side record a 1-0 win over Nasarawa United in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Sunday, www.aclsports.com reports.

The Match Day 10 encounter played at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne was decided by an acrobatic finish from the forward in the 16th minute as the Sky Blue Stars begin the second stanza on a winning note.

Asides getting the goal, Samuel worked tirelessly in attack to ensure they record their first win in four games and the forward spoke to the media after the game.

“[On scoring the winning goal] I feel so excited. That’s the most important thing – to win,” began Samuel Anakwe.

“To win the first game of the second stanza of the season and we needed the win to stay focused on the next game on Wednesday. So, this win is very important for us to keep pursuing our target. I’m very happy with the win.

It is Anakwe’s third goal of the season and all have come from home at the Remo Stars Stadium. When asked about his personal target for the rest of the season, the dazzling forward said he’s simply focused on helping the side progress.

“I like scoring and that’s one of my character. I want to help the team. I am a team player and I want to see the team progress.

On what was running through his mind when the ball went in, Samuel had this to say; “I need to watch the goal again because I haven’t seen it. I will keep working hard to score more goals. The spirit is high and there’s a lot of expectation.

Up next for Remo Stars is a trip to Elkanemi and Samuel believes they need to keep this positive mood up in order maintain their focus until the end of the season.

“We are still positive and set to correct the mistakes in the first stanza and this win will ginger us for the next game and that’s the most important thing. We want to stay positive until the end of the season,” he concluded.

Remo Stars will be guests of the Warriors in Maiduguri on Match day 11 this midweek, before hosting Gombe United in Ikenne next weekend.
