The Nigeria Professional Football League 2021/22 season enters matchday seven with a number of matches set to hold on Wednesday across various centres around the country.

The North Central derby between Plateau United and Nasarawa United will take place at the New Jos stadium with Fidelis Ilechukwu’s Jos side looking to extend their winning home run against the Solid Miners.

Dakkada will be at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin to trade tackles with Wikki Tourists in their second home game at the venue since their banishment. They will be hoping for an immediate response after last Sunday’s mauling at Plateau United.

In what could be described as a mini-relegation battle, Niger Tornadoes and Shooting Stars will face off at the National Stadium in Abuja. Both sides are in the bottom four, being a neutral ground after Tornadoes were banished therefrom Ilorin, Shooting Stars could fancy their chances of nicking a first away win of the season.

Currently, on an unbeaten run of three games, Sunshine Stars will host Gombe United at the Dipo Dina Stadium in search of their second win of the campaign. While Katsina United and Lobi Stars will wrestle for points in a closed-door game in Katsina.

In Lagos, unbeaten Rivers United will hope to extend their run when they file out against MFM on Wednesday.

On Thursday, league leaders Remo Stars will be at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne in search of another three points against Imama Amapakabo’s Abia Warriors. Similarly, Kwara State Sports Complex in Ilorin will be the venue of the clash between Kwara United and Kano Pillars.

Enyimba v Akwa United, earlier scheduled to hold this Thursday, has been moved to Wednesday January 26.

According to the LMC, the adjustment is “in order to allow for proper sponsorship activation for the benefit of our sponsors and other prospective sponsors.” #NPFL22

The oriental derby between Heartland and Rangers will hold on Friday, while the heavyweight clash between defending champions Akwa United and Enyimba has been postponed to next Wednesday by the League Management Company (LMC).
