Arguably the best goalkeeper so far in the 2018/19 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Chinedu Henry Anozie of FC Ifeanyiubah has called on his club’s fans to show their support for the team ahead of another home tie this midweek.

Anozie conceded a goal for the first time this season on Sunday when his side were beaten at home by his former club Abia Warriors in Nnewi. The goalkeeper who had previously kept five clean sheets told www.aclsports.com that the defeat was the worst thing to have happened to him.

“I couldn’t believe myself after the game. It was the worst thing I expected,” Anozie told www.aclsports.com

“I have not been myself since after the match but in all, it is football. We had our faults which I can’t point out here but let me just say it was a bad day in office.” he added.

Up next for the Anambra Warriors on Wednesday evening is a date with Gombe United, a team coached by Anozie’s former coach at Abia Warriors Ladan Bosso who was also in charge of FC Ifeanyiubah last term.

The goalkeeper insists his team are ready to move on after Sunday’s defeat.

“We have gone away to win and also draw so we will just pick ourselves and face the next match in full hope of victory. We know the coach has a score to settle against us but we just have to win.”

He however cautioned his team’s fans to support the team at this time and not turn against them, claiming that the abusive words they got from them on Sunday were not good.

“I urge Nnewi supporters to come and support us and not to tear us apart with bad words. Even when we had not lost any game before Sunday, they still used abusive words on us, it is very bad,” concluded Anozie.

FC Ifeanyiubah are still third on the group B table, just one point behind Heartland FC and El-Kanemi Warriors who occupy the first and second spots respectively.
