Defender Evans Ogbonda has opted to extend his stay with Nigeria Premier Football League side Rangers International, www.aclsports.com reports.
Ogbonda, who had an impressive stint with the Flying Antelopes last season, signed a deal that will keep him in Enugu until the end of the 2026/2027 football season.
The deal was finalised on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the club’s corporate office in Enugu, with General Manager/CEO, Amobi Ezeaku Esq., and Administrative Secretary, Barrister Alex Egbo, present.
Ogbonda, a former Akwa United and Bendel Insurance left-back, expressed his delight and commitment to the club.
“Rangers remains the biggest club in the country despite what happened last season,” a determined Ogbonda stated.
“I am remaining here to help push for the realization of our collective target in the coming season. Enugu people have shown me love and I won’t turn my back on them because we went through a little bad patch in our chase last season. Rangers shall return to its rightful position by the end of next season,” he concluded.
In his words, Rangers CEO, Amobi Ezeaku, praised Ogbonda for his professionalism and voiced his optimism about the club’s chances in the upcoming season.
“Evans has displayed a high level of professionalism,” Ezeaku remarked after the signing.
“I believe that we shall have a much better 2025/2026 season. The coaches and scouting team have done marvelously in their recruitment drive and with what we have on the ground, I strongly believe that we shall get back the trophy at the end of the season,” the club supremo added.
Ogbonda, who was a regular for Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side last term, will be keen to help Rangers challenge for titles in the 2025-26 season.
