Former league winners Enyimba once again slipped at home on Monday as their turbulent season winds down after a 1-1 draw with relegation haunted Sunshine Stars, thereby dropping to fifth on the log with just one match left in the season.

In a game Enyimba in their trademark style missed a plethora of scoring chances, they did get into the lead on the hour mark through left back Emmanuel Ampiah but Sunshine defender Ejike Uzoechi ensured the game ended all square.

The draw saw Kano Pillars and Rivers United overtake Enyimba into 3rd and 4th positions on the log. Pillars left it late to beat Wikki Tourists 1-0 at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna courtesy of a stoppage time strike by Auwalu Ali Mallam.

In Port Harcourt, Rivers United thrashed Lobi Stars 3-1 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium. Rivers went two goals up in the opening half courtesy of midfielders Morice Chukwu and Nelson Okwa Esor before Sunday Adetunji added a third in the second half. Osimaga Duke scored Lobi’s consolatory goal from the penalty spot late on.

Nasarawa United remained in second spot after a comprehensive 3-0 win over Rangers International at the Lafia City Stadium on Monday. Goals from Ikenna Offor, Aliyu Abdullahi and Ini Edem gave Nasarawa the maximum points in their final home game of the season.

Kwara United also recorded an expected 2-0 win away to Adamawa United in Gombe. Top Marksman Michael Ohanu and defender Christopher Nwaeze scored both goals for Kwara who remain in with a mathematical chance to get a continental slot.

In a game decided on Monday morning, Jigawa Golden Stars condemned FC Ifeanyiubah to relegation after inflicting a 3-0 defeat on the Anambra Warriors. In form Sunni Bature and Samuel Stone Onukwube were among the scorers.

The final two relegation spots will be confirmed on the Thursday when the final round of matches for the 2020/2021 season take place.

Nasarawa Utd 3-0 Rangers Int’l
