Sporting Lagos head coach Jeffery Buter has expressed his disappointment at his side’s draw with visiting Barau FC in their NPFL matchday six clash on Saturday, www.aclsports.com reports.
The Tech Boys scored a second-half equalizer through Sodiq Ayoade after the hour mark to secure a point following Joseph Atule’s first-half penalty goal for the Maliya Boys at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
Speaking after the game, Buter felt his side deserved more, but praised his team for the fight and courage to rescue a point from a losing position.
”Disappointing, as you said. I think we deserved more than a draw,” Buter said after the contest.
”We should have won this game, and on another day the officiating is better, we get maximum points from this game, but I am fine with the fight and courage.
Sporting Lagos came from behind to beat Enyimba last time out, and conceded first once again. However, Buter believes his side’s resilience was key to getting something from the contest against Barau FC.
”I think maybe we create chances, but we do not score early enough, and the opponents take what they get. Again, the resilience to always fight to get something- you are going to need it. On other days, we are going to start strong, like against Inter Lagos. But for now, we have to keep fighting. Go back; we have to find the courage to come back,” Buter added.
Looking ahead, Buter said his side will be ready for their rescheduled match day two clash with Ikorodu City on Wednesday.
“Not necessarily affect them. It is a lot of games; it is a lot of stress. There is fatigue, but we have to take it. We are trying to rest players and keep them fresh for the next game. So, we are going to be ready. We just have to rest and manage the stress levels of those who have played today and those who have not played,” Buter concluded.
