Akwa Ibom side, FC One Rocket, will host Warri Wolves in the curtain raiser for the new Nigeria National League (NNL) season starting this weekend.

It will be recalled that the organizers of the league announced the kickoff date of March 3rd last month as well as the format for the new campaign.

Meanwhile, before the draws for the fixtures were made on Tuesday, the governing body of the league had also earlier revealed the groupings for the Super-abridged league.

Apart from the season opener that will be played at the newly-built Eket Township Stadium, there will be a heavyweight clash between Crown FC and Gateway United in the opening weekend of the second division.

Four-time NPFL Champions Kano Pillars will begin their journey in the second tier with a trip to Sokoto United, while promotion hopefuls Vandrezzer FC will be in Omoku as guests of Go-round FC.

Other games to look forward to include Adamawa United and Yobe Stars – two teams that were in the top-flight some seasons ago, and Smart City v Sporting Lagos in the Lagos derby.

In total, 43 teams will be jostling for the four available Nigeria Premier Football League promotion tickets and at the end of the regular season, a playoff tournament will be played to produce the four clubs.
