Nigeria Weightlifting Federation releases programmes for 2024

The Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF) have released their programmes for the year 2024. In the list of programmes and activities obtained by www.aclsports.com, the National Trials to select weightlifters ahead of the 13th African Games in Ghana comes up in Abuja from 15th to 19th January.

The trials are immediately followed by the National Open Camp ahead of the 13th African Games in Abuja from 20th January to 5th March.

Nigeria Weightlifting Federation will attend to championships that will serve as an Olympic qualifiers and they include; the African Championship (Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifiers) in Cairo, Egypt from 2nd to 5th February and IWF World Cup (Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifiers) in Phuket, Thailand from 31st March to 11th April.

Abuja will host the National Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship from 21st to 24th April to discover and showcase young lifters to the world while outstanding lifters stands a chance of representing Nigeria at the IWF World Youth Championship in Lima, Peru from 22nd to 26th May

The Federation will also organise a coaching course in Kaduna next month while the referees course will be held in Abuja next July. The 1st edition of the Engineer Habu Gumel National Open Weightlifting Championship comes up in Gumel, Jigawa next June.

Nigeria plans attending the 2024 Commonwealth Senior, Junior and Youth Championship in Suva, Fiji from 21st to 27th September while the 2024 National Open Weightlifting Championship has been scheduled for 11th to 14th October in a venue yet to be decided.

Lokoja has been selected to host the board members meeting next October while the country attends the 2024 IWF World Championship in Manama, Bahrain in a date yet to be decided.
