The NFF has announced the commencement of its D coaching licence, with a total of 40 coaches participating in a six-day Coaching Course that began in Abuja on Tuesday, www.aclsports.com reports.

NFF Technical Director, Coach Augustine Eguavoen, clarified that the D-Licence serves as the entry point for coaches, structured in modules for beginners. He added that it is mandatory before progressing to the C-Licence course and requires at least 60 hours of training.

“Just as it is in life, everything in football is in stages. We have a lot of talented young ones out there, and it is not the way you coach adults that you coach the young ones. Coaching the young ones requires special training.

“This course is not going to be a one-off. After this national programme, we will have to take it to the Zones, and subsequently to the States. We have a total of 40 coaches undergoing this programme, and I can assure you they have a lot to learn,” the former Super Eagles handler concluded.

The return of coaching courses to Nigeria started with the record-setting CAF C-License programme exclusively for women coaches that took place last year (three modules) with 30 participants. The governing body then organised a CAF B-License Course, which attracted a total of 30 participants in April of this year. There was also a Coach Educators’ Course, which involved 25 participants, about two months ago.
