First Bank and MFM secured opening day wins at the 2026 NBBF/Zenith Bank Women’s Premier Basketball League Final 8 in Lagos on Tuesday, www.aclsports.com reports.
The Final 8, scheduled for September 28 to October 3, tipped off at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, with four fixtures taking place on the opening day.
Nine-time champions First Bank opened their campaign with a 68–57 victory over debutants Victoria Queens. First Bank won the first three quarters 19–14, 16–7 and 21–11 to take a 56–32 lead into the final quarter. Victoria Queens responded by winning the fourth quarter 25–12, but First Bank held on to claim an 11-point victory.
MFM recorded the biggest win of the opening day, defeating Bayelsa Blue Whales 69–35. The two-time champions established a commanding lead early and maintained their advantage throughout the game to record a 34-point victory.
Debutants Aso Sky Queens claimed a 55–36 victory over Titans Basketball. Sky Queens pulled away as the game progressed to finish with a 19-point margin.
Nigeria Customs defeated Air Warriors 55–41 to round off the opening day. Customs pulled away in the second half to see off Air Warriors and finish with a 14-point victory.
