Nigeria have made history by qualifying for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics in beach volleyball for the first time in Egypt on Saturday, www.aclsports.com reports.

Esther Onyinye Mbah and Pamela Miyoum Bawa secured the historic qualification by defeating Morocco 2-0 (21-18, 21-10) in the final of the 2026 African Beach Volleyball Nations Championship in Alexandria.

The Nigerian duo reached the final after a strong knockout run, starting with a 2-0 (21-17, 21-16) victory over hosts Egypt in the Round of 16 on Friday before edging Morocco 2-1 (21-17, 15-21, 15-11) in the quarter-final at Abu Heif Beach.

They then booked their place in the final with a 2-0 (21-17, 21-17) victory over Mozambique in the semi-finals on Saturday, with the eventual title securing Nigeria’s first-ever Olympic qualification in beach volleyball.
