Two Edinson Cavani goals saw Paris Saint-Germain, PSG, continue their perfect start to the new campaign with a comfortable 3-0 home win against St.Etienne.

For the first time since his record breaking move from Barcelona to Paris, Neymar wasn’t among the goals, but still proved important for his new team.

Both sides went into the game with three wins in three, with the visitors yet to concede in 270 minutes of league action.

However, their goal was finally breached when Cavani gave PSG the lead in the 20th minute when he converted from the spot kick, which he won himself, as they went into the break with a 1-0 advantage.

After the break, the home side doubled their advantage through Thiago Motta, after the midfielder met a free kick by Neymar.

It was job done and dusted, a minute from time, when Cavani got his second and PSG’s third of the night to make it 3-0, following good work by team mates, Neymar and Thomas Munier.

It was Cavani’s fifth goal in four games this season, as PSG strengthened their position at the top of the Ligue 1 table with 12 points, after four wins in four.

Up next for the team in the capital is a trip to Stade Saint-Symphorien, where they’ll lock horns by FC Metz, as they continue their quest to wrestle the league title back from AS Monaco.
