LALIGA, Lead City mini fan match: Atletico beat Barca 1-0

Team Atletico on Saturday defeated Team Barcelona in LALIGA mini fan match held at Lead City University Ibadan. The match which was played between the students and management of the University was as part of activities marking the University’s 16th Convocation ceremony.

The Atletico team was comprised of the school team, while the Barcelona team comprised of the management and some students. Atletico won the encounter 1-0 in a novelty match sponsored by LALIGA Nigeria.

Speaking after the match, LALIGA Ambassador in Nigeria, Mutiu Adepoju, lauded the initiative, adding that the LALIGA partnership with Lead City University will go along way in promoting the sports and league.

He assured LALIGA fans across the country that the partnership would bring more value to Nigerian football.

“As LALIGA, we want to get across to our fans, institutions, establishments and others and this is one of the way to do that.

“We are here a couple of months ago to show LALIGA El-clasico and we enter into agreement with the institution for the forthcoming convocation in order to make people have fun.

“So, LALIGA is always trying to get close to the fans and that is why we are participating at this year convocation of the institution.

“There are some other institution that are benefitting from this kind of gesture including Bayero University, Kano.

“LALIGA is however, not only about football; we are also into entertainment, education, and LALIGA Business School, trying to give people the knowledge of football.”

Also, the Director of Public Communication and Students Services, Lead City University, Dr Ayobami Owolabi said partnering with LALIGA is one of the good things happening to the development of sports in the institution.

He said he was impressed by the turn out at the event which he believes created good relationship between the management and the students.
