Reigning Africa Women’s Player of the Year, Thembi Kgatlana has joined Chinese Women’s Super League side, Beijing Phoenix from Houston Dash on a one year deal.

The AWCON 2018 Player of the Tournament made the switch after an impressive outing in Ghana last year which saw her side qualify for the World Cup for the first time and also come close to clinching Africa’s most prized trophy.

Thembi Kgatlana who is expected to feature for South Africa at the Cyprus invitational tournament next week will join up with her new team mates after the World Cup preparatory tournament where South Africa will face Finland, Korea DPR and Czech Republic in the group phase.

With this move, Kgatlana becomes the fifth female African player in China after just one in which she scored two goals and recorded three assists in sixteen appearances with the American side.
