Lagos state wrestler, Julius Adekunle has dedicated his victory over two National champions at the 3rd Governor Dickson National Classics to his coach.

Adekunle beat former National champion, Ituro Oke in the semifinals before shockingly defeating John Arikpo of Cross Rivers in the final of the men’s Greco Roman 67kg at the Indoor Hall of the Samson Siasia Sports Complex in Yenegoa, Bayelsa State.

The Nigeria Air Force personnel told www.aclsports.com that he listened to every single instruction dished out by his coach during his entire bouts.

He said, “The gold medal is a product of hard work, consistency and attentiveness to the instruction of my coach. During the bout between Ituru Oke, I thought he was going to work me out because of his physic but my coach told me not to mind his body that I have a better engine in me. This spurred me and I thank God I defeated him squarely in front of my well wishers.

“The final against John Arikpo was another tough one but I am grateful to God he gave me victory. I believe in three things; God, my coach and myself. I listened to every word of from my instructor and that was why I overcame”.

He promised to give his best at the 2019 All Africa Games in Morocco.

Adekunle said, “Nigerians should expect a medal from me at the 2019 All Africa Games in Morocco next month”.
