Nigerian Taekwondo Federation (NTF) has announced the postponement of the 1st North Central Open Taekwondo Championship, www.aclsports.com gathered.

The Championship was scheduled for 30th August to 3rd September 2023 in Benue state, but it will now be held from 1st to 5th November at the same location.

Yusuf Kabir, the Secretary General of the federation attributed the change of date to the transition period of the new government officials in order to ensure that the championship takes place in a secure and well-organised manner.

The Nigeria Taekwondo Federation apologised for any disruption the change of date might cause athletes, coaches and officials.

It read, “I am directed to inform you that the 1st North Central Open Taekwondo Championship, which was initially scheduled for the 30th August to 3rd September 2023 has been postponed to 1st to 5th November 2023. This unavoidable rescheduling is due to the swearing-in of new government officials in the hosting state.

“Considering the importance of this event and the need to ensure its smooth execution, the organisers have thoroughly evaluated the situation and determined that postponing the championship until November will be in the best interest of all participants.

“This delay will allow the hosting state to adequately handle the transitional period of the new government officials, ensuring the championship can take place in a secure and well-organised manner.”

It added, “The Federation understands that this change may cause inconvenience, and we sincerely apologise for any disruption it might cause to your preparations. The decision to postpone was not taken lightly, and we have made every effort to minimise the impact on the athletes, officials, and all stakeholders involved.”
