African Champion, Anuoluwapo Opeyori revealed that he has no regrets playing badminton. Opeyori defeated Mauritian Georges Paul 2-1 (23-21, 11-21, 21-16) to take the coveted Men’s Single crown for the third time in a row and his fifth African title at the 2024 All African Seniors Championship in Egypt.

Opeyori told www.aclsports.com that he feels fulfilled winning the 2024 All African Seniors Championship in Egypt.

He said “I only think about badminton therefore putting my strength, hard work and dedication towards it. I have the goal of going out there to compete with the world which I am happy doing.

“I feel very good and fulfilled for winning the African Championship and keeping a clean record. I am happy to have a record; it’ll take time to be beaten.

“I am self-oriented and the kind of person that motivates himself to overcome a challenge and be the best version of myself. I always make myself happy while achieving a difficult task; this has been my motivating factor”.

The Olympian said playing against some of the best players in the world and winning bronze medal at the 2024 Uganda Open is a great feat.

The multiple national champion said, “Winning the bronze medal at the 2024 Uganda Open is a great feat for me because I am the first African player to win a bronze medal for a while. I am happy to compete at this level and compete with other champions in the world.

“I learnt to be strong, have confidence, no regret and go for the target. You have to make a trial before you get a result”.

“To be amongst the best players in the world, all I need are good funding, resources, equipment, an enabling environment and not limited to a good sparring partner as well as a highly technical coach. If I have all these at my disposal with my potential, I think I can conquer the World,” he added.
