The head coach of Niger United, Yekini Adebayo told www.aclsports.com that his team is in form and back to its rightful position at the Prudent Energy Handball League.

Niger United cemented their place on top of the league table after narrowly defeating Kano Pillars 25 to 24 goals on Day 9 of the 2021 Prudent Energy Handball League in Abuja on Friday.

Adebayo said he reminded his team of the show of shame that happened at the 2020 handball league, warning them not to compromise against Kano Pillars.

He revealed that beating Kano Pillars simply means his side can take on any team at the ongoing league.

The former Niger United player said, “Niger United are back to their rightful position on the league table. As you all know, Niger United is the home of handball and anything short of victory would have been a disaster.

“The last goal from Shehu Aliyu in the last three seconds of the game means a lot to the team and this is the philosophy of Niger United; we do not give up until the last seconds of the game.

“Before the match against Kano Pillars, I reminded them of our disastrous outing last year were we lost 7 straight matches. The boys were sad and promised to put in their best and we can all see the result of hard work.”

In another exciting encounter, Seasider Boys of Lagos defeated defending champion Safety Shooters 30-26 while Tojemarine Academy earned their second win in the league as they defeated Plateau Vipers 25-23.

De Defenders had to rely on experience to earn a 20-19 win over Kada Stars while Confluence Stars comfortably defeated Rima Strikers of Sokoto 26-18 in a largely one sided match.

In the women category, Defender Babes defeated Seasider Babes of Lagos 24-22 while Kada Queens defeated 31-22.

Former champion Safety Babes comfortably earned a 28-18 victory over Edo Dynamos.
