The Head Coach of Kwara handball team, Ishaka Atanda said the current set of players representing the state are highly committed.

Atanda made the state after the victory over Lagos state and Rising Star at the ongoing National U18 and U21 handball championships in Lagos.

He told www.aclsports.com that his girls would have humiliated Lagos state if they had not been busy with academics.

He said, “These players are highly committed to the game because they have been together since 2010. The chairman of the association, Emmanuel Olubiyo for the last 10 years has kept these players from primary school till date, catering for their academics and personal needs”.

He further said, “The girls did not perform up to expectation because most of them are now focused squarely on their education. Assuming it was when the girls were together as a unit, we would have beaten Lagos 30-2”.

Concerning the turnaround in the U21 male game against Rising Stars of Abuja, Atanda said, “During the break, I told the boys to forget about their performance in the first half and play a new game. They also promised to win the match which they did.

“The games were both exciting and challenging but we need to thank our chairman for his assistance to the teams because we were camped for two weeks and bankrolled by him. The camping also assisted the technical crew to correct some lapses and perform well at this championship”.
