The Nigeria Super Falcons have released their 23-player squad for a double-header of international friendly matches against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon, scheduled for May 31st and June 3rd, 2025.

Among the notable inclusions is the return of experienced forward Francisca Ordega, who rejoins the team after a period of absence. The squad also features Olamide Bolaji, the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) top scorer from Remo Stars Ladies, and Emem Essien of Edo Queens, alongside several standout performers from the just-concluded NWFL Super Six, including league-winning captain Blessing Ilivieda.

However, the squad will be without some high-profile names. Asisat Oshoala, Ashleigh Plumptre, and Gift Monday are all notable absentees from the team list.

Interim head coach Justine Madugu has named a strong mix of domestic and international stars for the friendlies. The squad includes team captain Rasheedat Ajibade, first-choice goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, versatile defender Michelle Alozie, creative midfielder Toni Payne, and dynamic forward Rinsola Babajide.

The Super Falcons and the Lionesses will clash at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo on Saturday, May 31, before meeting again on Tuesday, June 3 at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta.

These matches form part of Nigeria’s preparations for the 13th CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled to take place in Morocco from July 5 to 26, 2024.

The Super Falcons will compete in Group B of the tournament alongside Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana.

All invited players are expected to report to camp at Am2pm Hotel, Ijebu-Ode, on Monday, May 26.

With WAFCON 2024 fast approaching, the upcoming fixtures present a key opportunity for the Nigeria’s technical crew to assess form, build chemistry, and fine-tune strategies.
