Ex-Super Falcon and FIFA Women’s World Cup (FIFAWWC) youngest player, Ifeanyi Chiejine has died following a brief illness according to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Chiejine died at the young age of 36 having captained the first set of the U19 National Women’s team to the first U19 (Now U20) FIFAWWC in 2002. She represented Nigeria at the 1999, 2003 and 2007 FIFAWWC, 2000 and 2008 Olympic Games.

Since her FIFAWWC debut in 1999, Chiejine remains the youngest player ever at the Women’s World Cup. She won four Africa Women’s Cup of Nations titles (AWCON) and her outstanding display at the 2007 African Games in Algeria earned her the top scorer award with five goals to help Nigeria win Gold medal.

She earned herself 68 caps playing for the Super Falcons of Nigeria scoring 18 goals.
