The Super Eagles of Nigeria have moved two places in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, www.ACLSports.com reports.

Nigeria moved from number 31 in the world to 29 in the ranking released on Thursday afternoon by the world football governing body, FIFA.

Six months after the Coronavirus pandemic crippled international football, the Eagles broke into the top 30 with a total of 1493 points.

However, that was only good enough for third place in Africa, with the duo of Senegal and Tunisia, ranked 20 and 26 respectively, ahead of Nigeria.

Algeria, 35 and Morocco, 43, complete the top five in Africa while Burkina Faso, 59, just misses out by eight points.

Elsewhere, the UEFA Nations League games that took place across Europe early September helped Portugal ensure there was a shakeup in the top five as the European Champions moved two places and into the top five.

But Belgium retained their number one spot while the other movement in the top ten saw Spain move up one place to 7th.

The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on 22 October 2020.
