FIBA U16 Africa: Junior Tigers face Tunisia in the last 8

Nigeria U16 Basketball Team, Junior Tigers will play against Tunisia in the quarter final of the FIBA Africa U16 Championship in Praia, Cape Verde on Friday.

Nigeria who finished second behind Egypt in Group A will come against third place Tunisia from Group B. The Junior Tigers sealed their quarter final spot after beating Algeria 75-64 in their last Group A game on Wednesday.

James Othuke Okemirie led the way with 19 points and 18 rebound double-double his second double-double of the competition.

Farouk Isah added 17 points, Precious Ikpe had 14 points while Bormini Victor Dennis contributed 10 points and five assists. Reuben Chinyelu was short of a double-double as he shot five points and 15 boards in 25 minutes of play.

Four players finished on double figures for Algeria: Ilian Nessaibia had 18 points and four rebounds, Mohanď Ammad added 15 points, Yahya Marouane added 11 points and five rebounds.

Aouana Abdelmalek was one shy of a double-double as he shot 8 points and 11 rebounds in the game.

In other Quarter Final fixtures, Rwanda will play against 3-time champions Egypt, Host Cape Verde square off against Mali while Angola face Guinea.

The best two teams will represent Africa at the FIBA U17 World Championship in Bulgaria next year.
