The Football Coaches Association of Africa Nations (FCAAN) has appointed respected football technocrat Eldred Sunju-Abbey as the body’s South-South regional coordinator.
Sunju-Abbey who is currently the Project Coordinator and Director of Coaching at the Real Madrid Academy in Port Harcourt was appointed alongside three others for the country.
Their names were approved by the FCAAN worldwide President and board of advisers after it was submitted by the body’s director of coaching education, Henry Abiodun, a former Sunshine Stars coach.
The aim of appointing the regional coordinators is to increase and optimise the level of coaching in Nigeria.
Sunju-Abbey told www.aclsports.com that the FCAAN’s mission is to bring more development to African football.
“What FCAAN are doing in the country is a huge plus. We’ve been yearning and begging for this to commence and although it’s coming now but is great to see it embraced and appreciated.
“It’s a privilege for us to be here and also for Nigerian coaches as it will help us benefit more. The curricula is massive and extensively thought and this is great for Nigerian football development and Africa as a whole,” the former football star told www.aclsports.com
The FCAAN, a non-governmental organisation, has over 45,000 members across the globe.
