It is indeed Super Sunday not just in England but also in the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, with Enyimba and Lobi Stars back again in the Big Game brought to you by NPFLMoments.

While many eyes will be in the Super Sunday clash between Liverpool and Manchester United at Anfield later today in the English Premier League, it will interest you to know that back home here in the NPFL, things are getting not just hotter but tastier as well every game week.

On WK15, NPFLMoments treated you to an ‘NPFL SPECIAL’ with three matches featuring in the BIG GAME led by that tie between league leaders, Lobi Stars, and their hosts, Rivers United, in Port Harcourt.

The last game week produced some outstanding shocks but can WK 16 at least come close or even topple?

First, here are three matches, including another ORIENTAL DERBY, that have made it to our WK 16 SPECIAL this Super Sunday. Let’s get into it!!!

IFEANYI UBAH vs ENYIMBA

Last time, there were also two ORIENTAL DERBIES in the NPFL but our focus was in the one in Aba, where Enyimba hosted their neighbours from Owerri, Heartland FC.

The other game was not that far away in Umuahia, where Abia Warriors tackled Ifeanyi Ubah. For us here at NPFL Moments, it was an under the radar affair.

However, after apologising to Ifeanyi Ubah the last time, they have earned a place in our Big Game feature for WK 16 with this clash at home to Enyimba.

The visitors need a miracle in Nnewi, where their hosts have an impeccable record, having dropped points just once this season at home – a goalless affair with Lobi Stars.

For the Elephants, they have failed to any of their last five games in the NPFL, home or away, with three defeats and two draws.

But since things have been happening in the league this season, perhaps a shock win is in store for the Aba Boys today.

LOBI STARS vs DAKKADA

This particular fixture has the makings of the star match, especially when you take into cognizance that these two teams are in the top five.

Both have been flying so high in the NPFL, but Lobi have flown the highest and currently find themselves atop the league table, while Dakkada are fifth.

Lobi Stars feature in the NPFL Moments Big Game for the second consecutive game week but will be hoping for a better result than their outing.

Both teams will, in fact, be looking to better their last outings, Lobi fell 2-1 at Rivers United, while Dakkada were brought back to earth in front of the home fans by Nasarawa United – 0-3 it ended for United.

Leaders, Lobi, are clear favourites for this one, they are yet to drop points at home this season, but in Dakkada, they meet easily the best away team in the league.

The visitors have taken at least a point in six (6) of their seven (7) away matches this season.

KANO PILLARS vs AKWA UNITED

Our final pick for the week sees Pillars host Akwa United in Kano.

Pillars are on a run of ten (10) matches without defeat, the longest unbeaten run in the league this season, albeit they have only won just three of those matches, with seven (7) draws.

For Akwa, they’d hope to return to winning ways today, following their first defeat under the managerial guidance of Kennedy Boboye, a shock loss at home to Kwara United in WK15.

That defeat, regardless, the Promise Keepers remain one of the most in-form teams at the moment in the NPFL.

But can they do what just one team (Lobi) have managed to do at the Sani Abacha Stadium, win?
